Before we launched, we
witnessed first-hand the devastating consequences of deforestation, and also the incredible benefits of trees. We instantly knew tree planting and environmental activism had to be our cause.
Much of this forest cover has been destroyed within the past 30 years alone. And 36 football fields are being destroyed every minute.
If we don’t stop this rate, 80% to 90% of tropical rainforests will be destroyed in the next few years.
Some of the biggest causes of deforestation are livestock ranching to satisfy global demand for meat, agricultural expansion, logging for timber, and infrastructure building.
Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of CO2 produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles.
Trees also absorb other odours and pollutant gases, cool streets and offices through shade (cutting AC use), provide food, and even increase property values.
One of our personal favourite benefits of trees is how they make us feel. They bring communities together, encourage civic pride, and have been scientifically proven to reduce stress and make us happier!
